Signs of Spring

Only days after our snowstorm in April, we were experiencing the signs of spring. Especially the most telling sign of spring…the melting snowman surrounded by greenish grass and blue skies.

And my favorite sign of spring, the crocus blooming.

Unfortunate, but true…Colin has been asking to build a snowman all winter, and now that it’s April he finally got his chance.

2 Wheeled Wonder

I’m proud as a mother hen…and I have every right to be. Colin can now ride he two-wheeler. He’s started trying last summer…and told us “When I turn 5″. Well, he won’t be 5 for 2 more weeks, but here he is!

One more bike in the stable

It’s not quite final…but final enough to say here. I’m getting a new bike!!!!

Can you tell I’m excited?? I have been looking at this bike since July of last year, and we finally decided that the price will go no lower…and since it’s still on the bike shop floor, it must be waiting for me. (And definitely at a lower price than when I first looked at it!) To sweeten the deal, Erick won me $300 in gift certificates to use to drop the price even lower. Thanks honey!

Now the only question that remains…what happens with the old bike(s)?

Spring Break?

50 degrees in early February sounds like spring break in the middle of winter to me. Nice weather drove outside for a bike ride, even with snow melting all around us it was a beautiful day! Riding in the trailer, Aaron was spattered with water from the snow melt, but he enjoyed every minute of it.

Come on springtime…bring it on. We are ready for biking season!

Winter Weather Wear

I recently started knitting. Colin’s first request was his “rainbow scarf.” He proudly wears it everywhere…and even offers each person who admires it that his momma will make them one! Definitely cute, but he has me lined up to make people scarves for the next few years. He’s even offered one to Krist, who helped me learn to knit!

PS. If you want a scarf, feel free to ask…but please specify color so Colin doesn’t have me make 50,000 “rainbow” scarves

Wild Wii Party??

So, we have finally caught up with the new era…We are now the proud owners of a Wii.

We’ve also had friends over a couple weekends this month to play, and each time seems crazier than before.

Massive Fallout 2008

We couldn’t have asked for better weather for the MMBA‘s second annual Massive Fallout ride. We take as big as a group as we can gather to ride four of the area’s mountain bike trails, all conveniently connected by rail-trails and rural dirt roads. Leaving from Stoney Creek Metro-Park at around 10am with gorgeous weather and blue skies.

I was out for a “casual stroll” for the day, trying to cover as many mile as possible, but not worrying about the time it took. Hence, I brought the camera to capture the moments. The trees on Sheldon Road were justing starting to turn colors and the sun was shining on us.

Stopping for a the traffic light, we noticed a house decorated for halloween. They had a big cat peeking out one window, and this, a mummy looking out another.

On our way up the Paint Creek Trail, we stopped shortly, and were passed by a bigger group of riders. Here we are hanging out with biking friends Kristi and Erik.

The day continued to look even prettier as we made our way through Bald Mountain. The ride was wonderful despite a few “minor” incidents (read “Katie fell…hard”). Here’s pics of Erick on the trail and the view of a lake.

Once we made our way to Addison, we hung out for a little and got lunch…yum…Brats and Chili. (Yes, that is definitely mountain biking food.)
Addison has always been one of my favorite trails in the area. I but found it especially pretty on this October with the sun shining through the trees.

Whoa! What has happened to the time?

Everyone is acutely aware that I am notoriously bad at keeping this blog updated. But, I swear…the last few months have just flown by. Busy at work, busy at home.

So, for my sake, I’m going to take a trip down memory lane and do a quick review of the past few months. (Probably short on text, heavy on pictures cause a picture says a 1000 words. Right? That must mean I don’t need to.)

Winter Wonderland

Shortly after Christmas we went up north. Weather was great. We had 5″ dumped on us the day after we arrived.

We went to an Easter Egg Hunt up-north put on by the Lion’s club and surprise! Colin won a new bike. He’s still too small to fit on it, but he sure was excited.

I can’t hear you mom. I have ketchup in my ears.

Another great instance of a picture being worth a 1000 words. Obviously Aaron enjoyed the act more than the cleanup.
